The Portomaso Grand Opening festival in Malta is never boring. Yesterday we witnessed another great performance by Dario Alioto in a Pot Limit Omaha tournament, but the man of the day might once again be the Croatian Andro Scarpa.

Diamond 5k Million: Alioto almost there, Kronwitter wins
Dario Alioto confirms himself, once again, as one of the strongest Pot Limit Omaha tournament players around. The player from Palermo started in fourth position among the eight finalists of the Diamond 5k Million, a super Pot Limit Omaha tournament, along with two other quality Italians: Marco Levato and Youness Barakat. The latter was unfortunately the first to be eliminated, while Levato made it to fourth place, earning €74,250. The mysterious German player “NoNeedMoney” was eliminated in third place, leaving two specialists, our Alioto and the German Jonas Kronwitter, to battle for the title. In the end, it was Kronwitter who emerged victorious, with the following payout:

NLH Mystery Million: Scarpa aims for a sensational double
The Croatian Andro Scarpa is fresh off his victory in the Malta Poker Festival Special Edition, but he clearly hasn’t had enough. The Balkan player is also among the finalists in the NLH Mystery Million, with a final table that features the Italian Daniele Degennaro as chip leader and includes well-known faces from the Italian live scene such as Gianluca Cabitza, Luigi Curcio, and Alessandro Furneri.

The appeal of this final table is further enhanced by one factor: the tournament’s top bounty of €100,000 is still in play!

The most interesting bounties
Speaking of bounties, apart from the highly anticipated and already mentioned €100,000 bounty, several other very interesting ones have been awarded. The luckiest was Babawande Obadun, but Renato Hysenbelli also did well. Notably, Giannino “Kart” Salvatore picked up two bounties of €7,000 each.
