ISOP Main Event Champion: Bognanni is always Magic, he is the chipleader of day 1A

The PokerStars Live Room in Campione d’Italia returns to the center of the action, hosting Stage 3 of the ISOP Season. Yesterday, the Main Event kicked off with the now-classic day 1A in a “special price” format. And leading the pack at the end of this first flight is a big name: Marco Bognanni.

ISOP Main Event: 367 players on day 1A, Bognanni leads

Many familiar faces, a relaxed atmosphere, and some of the typical adrenaline rush of live poker. That was the scene yesterday at the PokerStars Live Room in Campione d’Italia, hosting day 1A of the ISOP Main Event, the third stage of the current ISOP Season.

367 players took to the tables for this first flight in “special price” mode, meaning a reduced buy-in from €500 to €300. Many interesting hands were played, some of which were captured by our on-site reporters, Giorgio Sigon, Davide De Luca, and Marco Varrone.

In one of these hands, Andrea Cortellazzi wins a big pot, but his opponent manages to fold with q j on a a q q 8 5 board. Prompted by our reporter, Andrea later revealed he had AA. Despite this, Cortellazzi was eliminated in the second part of day 1A.

However, Marco Bognanni‘s game only improved. The popular “Magic Box” surged in the latter part of the day, partly thanks to this hand won against Daniela Parotti, captured by our on-site reporters:

Day 1A Top 10

This full house will be crucial for Bognanni, who, at the end of the day, will be the official chip leader of day 1A. He narrowly beat Fabio Frusca, leaving the rest of the 118 qualifiers quite far behind. Here is the top 10:

Vasta, Venneri, and Begni among the qualifiers

Among the others are several well-known names and some returning players, such as Michele Fratini, who is in 18th place with 233,500. Also through are Gianluca Cammarata (224k), Vasyl Palandiuk (197.5k), Carmelo Vasta (149.5k), Valerio Parodo (131k), Elios Gualdi (119.5k), Antonino Venneri (112k), Daniela Parotti (96k), Andrea Rocci (82k), Catello De Martino (76.5k), Morgan Crosta (66k), Roby Begni (55k), and former ISOP champion Daniele Sottile, among the shortest stacks with 42,500 chips and in need of luck from Lady Luck on next Sunday’s day 2.

ISOP3 Campione: Today’s Schedule

The schedule for this Stage 3 includes, for this Friday, February 13th, day 1B of the ISOP Main Event. As per established tradition, day 1B still has a discounted buy-in, while day 1C and 1D will have the full price of €500. For day 1B, scheduled today from 2 PM, the buy-in is €400. The starting stack is 50,000 chips, with levels of 40 minutes each, starting from 100/100/100.

At 3 PM, there’s an unmissable event for four-card enthusiasts, with Event #9, Pot Limit Omaha with a €300 buy-in.

At 7 PM, the third flight for the Main Event begins, day 1C, which will have the same prize pool and structure as day 1B and day 1A but with a full buy-in of €500.

Finally, at 9 PM, the satellite for the Main Event starts, valid for both day 1C and Saturday’s day 1D. The buy-in is €60, and five tickets are guaranteed.
